Event (04/03/21): The contribution of Women to the Sustainable Development Goals: The importance of Goal #5

On 4 March 2021, from 15:00 to 16:30 CET, in light of International Women’s Day, CSR HELLAS in cooperation with its corporate member INTERAMERICAN SA and Global Compact Network Hellas are organizing an event titled “The contribution of Women to the Sustainable Development Goals: The importance of Goal #5”. The new decade that has already begun marks a new era in gender equality, deeming this topic very relevant to the current context. On the one hand, the future challenges for the promotion of girls’ and women’s rights and gender equality are unfolding, 25 years after the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. On the other hand, the pandemic that broke out last year highlighted the need for sustainable development models, intensifying the urgency to meet the respective SDGs.

To this end, the event will take the shape of a panel discussion hosting representatives of the Greek state, leading business executives and civil society, who will exchange their views on the subject, focusing specifically on the following questions:

  • How can businesses contribute to breaking down stereotypes and acknowledging prejudices regarding women empowerment?
  • What is the role of businesses as inclusive employers?
  • The impact of COVID-19 on gender equality

During the event, the official awarding ceremony of the three winning teams of the CSR HELLAS “Nikos Analytis” Student Contest will also take place. The topic of the 5th cycle of the Contest was that of Gender Equality (SDG #5) in the workplace.

The event will take place virtually on 4 March from 15:00 until 16:30 CET in the Greek language.
