Eight out of ten (86%) General Managers and CEOs of companies and institutions in Greece believe that inclusion and equal opportunities should be related to business strategy. However, only 2 in 10 (18%) use measurable targets to manage gender-inclusive and equal opportunities in the companies and organisations they manage. The main reasons for not adopting an inclusion strategy on the part of business leaders emerge, according to the survey, as the fact that gender equality issues are adequately covered by informal working practices (65%) and the small size of companies with few employees (43%).
The above are the main conclusions of the research conducted by CSR HELLAS entitled “Inclusion and equal opportunities in the workplace with the gender dimension”, carried out by CSR HELLAS in collaboration with a group of experts from the field of HR and the academic community (Nicolas Angelopoulos, member of the CSR HELLAS Board of Directors and Sustainability Specialist of INTERAMERICAN, Maria Alexiou, Chairman of the CSR HELLAS Board of Directors, Dimitris Koufopoulos, founder of the Hellenic Observatory of Corporate Governance (HOCG) and Professor at the University of London and Martha Mylonas, Honorary President of the Hellenic Institute of Corporate Governance). The aim of the research was to map and assess the level of maturity on matters of inclusion and equal opportunities in the principles and practices of Greek companies at the end of 2021, focusing specifically on the gender dimension.
The first episode of the CSR Lab Podcast on “Gender Equality and Business: yes…but” will follow in March 2022 to comment on the results of the survey and discuss the conclusions.
