Appliances Recycling S.A. is the first and largest Collective System for the Alternative Management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), in Greece and it is approved by the Hellenic Recycling Agency and operates under the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

The company has been operating for the last 20 years and collaborates with 13 waste management units nationwide, ensuring the proper environmental treatment of old appliances, light bulbs, toner and cartridges containers.

The company has created an ecosystem of collaborations that carry out integrated operations, including the organization of collection points, transportation, the separation and treatment of waste. The goal is the depollution of devices and the recovery of valuable raw materials that will return to the production process.

Thanks to an extensive network of 9,500 collaborations and more than 16,000 collection points across the country, Appliance Recycling S.A. manages 94% of the domestic quantities of WEEE and has recycled, by December 2024, over 970,000 tons of waste, achieving a recovery rate of 94.3% (year 2023).

The mission of Appliance Recycling S.A. is to protect the environment. Its task is to create the structures and conditions necessary for citizens, organizations, companies, and entities to contribute maximally to achieving this goal.

The company’s vision is to ensure that no electrical device lacks proper environmental management.

Sustainable Development is integrated in the operation of Appliances Recycling S.A., and to this end, the Company develops and implements policies, procedures, and tools that contribute to addressing corporate risks, protecting human rights, strengthening business continuity, and shaping a responsible supply chain.

Environment

Through its operations, the Company seeks the proper management of WEEE, focusing on the reduction of hazardous waste and the mitigation of the environmental footprint resulting from incorrect management. Furthermore, through the sustainable management of WEEE, the Company contributes significantly to the strengthening of the principles of circular economy, promoting reuse and recovering significant quantities of secondary materials, such as copper, iron, aluminium, and other metals.

Society

One of the main axes of Appliances Recycling S.A.’s activity is the creation of an environmental culture among citizens, through actions for raising awareness and tools that encourage citizens to dispose their appliances. The Company’s goal is to inform citizens through participation in exhibitions, events, educational visits to schools, and media campaigns. At the same time, some of the functional equipment collected is donated to agencies and organisations, actively highlighting the value of reusing appliances through social contribution. The extensive WEEE collection network, in addition to awareness actions, plays a decisive role in raising citizen awareness. The constant presence of collection means with the right signage encourages more and more citizens to participate in this effort.
