Profile

Rolex is an independent, fully integrated Swiss watchmaker. Headquartered in Geneva, the brand is recognised worldwide for its expertise and the quality of its products, which are symbols of excellence, elegance and prestige.

Hans Wilsdorf, the company’s founder, inspired an enduring pursuit of excellence that led to major innovations in watchmaking, including the Oyster, the first waterproof wristwatch in the history of watchmaking, and the Perpetual self-winding mechanism with a rotating rotor.

Rolex designs, develops and manufactures the majority of its watch components in-house at its own facilities.

The company also supports the arts and culture, sport and exploration, as well as individuals who develop ideas and solutions to protect the planet. It is a committed and responsible company whose products are designed to stand the test of time.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: A COMMITMENT TO THE FUTURE

Sustainable development is an integral part of Rolex’s philosophy and operations. As a responsible company, Rolex places its high standards of quality, spirit of innovation and pursuit of excellence at the heart of its commitment to the environment and society.

This approach is reflected first and foremost in its products. Rolex designs and manufactures watches of exceptional quality, built to withstand the test of time and capable of functioning for many generations. At the same time, the company systematically invests in innovation, seeking to reduce the environmental impact of its activities. Social and environmental responsibility is embedded in its practices throughout the entire value chain, as well as in its decisions and actions.

A central pillar of Rolex’s environmental policy is the reduction of its carbon footprint. Through the Science Based Targets initiative, the company has committed to reducing its absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. These targets are aligned with the decarbonisation requirements necessary to limit global warming, in accordance with the Paris Agreement.

Particular emphasis is also placed on the traceability and recycling of raw materials, with the life cycle of each material monitored from its origin through to its final use.

Driven by a strong sense of responsibility, Rolex seeks to protect the planet, preserve cultural heritage, promote innovation and inspire future generations. Its actions focus on raising awareness, conservation and the transmission of its values, while the partnerships and initiatives it supports aim to develop practical solutions to contemporary challenges.

As part of its long-term commitment, the company operates internationally in two key areas: the Perpetual Planet Initiative, which supports projects in the fields of science and the environment, and the Perpetual Arts Initiative, which reflects its commitment to art and culture.

In Greece, during the summer of 2024, the company funded a comprehensive wildfire-prevention programme in Pindus National Park, in Valia Calda, throughout the entire wildfire season. The project included two Operational Control Centres, four drones, thermal imaging cameras, 11 trained operators and round-the-clock monitoring of the area. The use of artificial intelligence and real-time data enhanced the early detection of potential wildfire outbreaks and enabled the immediate notification of the relevant authorities.

At the same time, from 2024 to 2026, Rolex Hellas is supporting the provision of modern information technology systems to more than 120 Forest Services across Greece, contributing to more effective coordination of forest protection and firefighting activities.

As part of its commitment to protecting human health, the company’s social contribution also included the donation of specialised medical equipment to hospitals within Greece’s National Health System during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting the country’s response to the crisis.
