Profile

The American College of Greece (ACG) is a private, independent, non-profit educational organization founded in 1875, and the oldest and largest American-accredited educational institution in Europe. Today, ACG comprises three divisions: Pierce (primary, secondary education, and IB), Deree (undergraduate and graduate programs), and Alba Graduate Business School.

Pierce is the Pre-K, K & Elementary School, and Gymnasium & Lyceum of ACG. It combines the Greek secondary educational curriculum with advanced teaching of English, while it also offers the IB Diploma Program to students of the B’ and C’ Lyceum classes. The mission of Pierce is to provide a holistic education to form intellectually independent, morally responsible, socially engaged global citizens. The motto “Non ministrari sed ministrare” (“Not to be served but to serve”) defines the School’s institutional character and aspiration for its students. Pierce is the first school in Greece to follow the national curriculum and possess an American accreditation by MSA.

Deree is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) and has a degree validation agreement with the Open University of the United Kingdom (OU). It offers 38 innovative undergraduate programs in Business, the Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the Fine and Performing Arts, and 9 graduate programs in Communication, Psychology, TESOL, and Data Science.

Alba is the Business School of The American College of Greece. Since its establishment in 1992, it has maintained its tradition of academic excellence and close ties with the business world. Its longstanding “Business unusual” motto reflects Alba’s philosophy of educating executives and seasoned professionals alike to become futureproof, agile, and resilient leaders. Alba offers 13 master’s degree programs in the areas of Business, Management, Shipping, Finance, HR, Tourism, Entrepreneurship, and Law. All Alba programs are accredited by NECHE; MBA programs are AMBA-accredited while the MSc in Finance and the MSc in SHRM are EFMD-accredited.

In view of its 150th anniversary in 2025, ACG has launched the ACG 150 Strategic Plan “Futureproof Greece”. Looking to advance ACG’s legacy of educational excellence and address some of the most critical challenges and opportunities in Greece, the Plan leverages the College’s programs, collaborations, and partnerships to contribute to the country’s challenge of growing an economy, cultivate a sustainable, adaptive, healthy and resilient society, and promote Hellenic culture.

Faithful to its mission of providing equal access to high-quality education, ACG supports its students through a robust scholarship and financial aid program exceeding €8 million for 2022-23.
