Historical Overview of CSR HELLAS
In the year 2000, businesses and corporate bodies in our country proceeded to create CSR HELLAS, following the example of large European and multi-national businesses that in the mid-90s assumed a business community initiative in favor of social cohesion.
1994
European Declaration
In May 1994, a group of European entrepreneurs and CEOs signed “the European Declaration against Social Exclusion”, aiming to find ways to promote the idea of social responsibility.
1995
Establishment of a European Network
As a result of the Declaration, the European Business Network for Social Cohesion (EBNSC) was established in 1995. One of the principle goals of this network was the provision of support for the creation of similar national networks.
1996
Presentation to Greek Businesses
In October 1996, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“EVEA”), in cooperation with the European Network, organized a seminar so as to present the actions of the European Network to large Greek businesses, in order to enhance the possibility of establishing a Greek business network for Social Cohesion, similar to the European one. 18 large Greek and multinational businesses and representatives of the European network participated in the event.
1999
Declaration of the Greek Network
An executive from the European Business Network for Social Cohesion (EBNSC) took the initiative to establish a similar national network in Greece. In this framework, an event was organized at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, attended by representatives from the EBNSC, 12 businesses and 3 collective bodies (“EVEA”, “SEV” and “SVVE”). What followed was the creation of a small, coordination committee for the establishment of the Greek Network.
2000
Establishment of the Greek Network for Social Cohesion
Signing of the Articles of Association by 16 founding members, 13 businesses and 3 corporate bodies.
2000
National Partner of CSR EUROPE
The founding of the body meant it became a national partner of the respective European body.
2002
Network Name Change
Modification of the Articles of Association so as to change the name from Greek Network for Social Cohesion to Greek Network for Corporate Social Responsibility.
2008
Coordination of the Local Network Global Compact's Operation
In cooperation with the UN Global Compact and the UN Development Programme, the Global Compact Network Hellas begins its operations, coordinated by the Greek Network for Corporate Social Responsibility.
2014
Addition of a Distinct Title
Modification of the Articles of Association for the addition of the distinct title CSR HELLAS, while maintaining the name Greek Network for Corporate Social Responsibility.
